In the latter half of the 20c soft focus portraits, "Hollywood style", were popular and camera manufacturers produced special lenses which created this effect using spherical abherration. I found turning one such lens to flowers in direct sunlight, and at a specific angle, produced a glorious richness not achieved with conventional lenses. This collection contains a few examples.
