A person’s life, well lived, loved and fulfilled or too brief, is starkly summarized on a memorial stone whilst the friends and relatives by whom they were remembered eventually pass away. Time, the elements and neglect take their toll in eroding the stone whilst lichens moss and algae gradually cloak the surface in a surprising palette of colours. As nature reclaims the stones the ephemeral lettering slowly disappears in a physical analogy of the loss in human memory, until only a shaft of sunlight finds the last traces before it vanishes forever.
